About Us
St Dunstan’s is named after one time Archbishop of Canterbury, who loved music and the arts. In many paintings he is featured with a harp, an angelic instrument. St Dunstan’s, Camberwell, carries on the musical tradition as a 'church that sings'.
Our purpose as a parish is to live in Jesus' words that 'I came that you might have life in abundance'. This includes understanding what Jesus’ gift of life means for us as a community making the most of Jesus gift of life by reaching out through our services, fellowship and mission activities.
From the Vicar
From our Student Minister
Our Vicar, the Venerable Alison Taylor, is a graduate of the University of Melbourne (BA Hons in Arts and Master of Urban Planning), and of the Melbourne College of Divinity (Bachelor of Divinity Hons in systematic theology. She was ordained as an Anglican priest in 1997 and came to St Dunstan’s parish in August of 2000. She also serves as the Archdeacon of Kew, a senior administrative position within the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne, and as the Chair of the Board of AngliCORD, the Anglican Church’s emergency relief and overseas development agency.
Archdeacon Taylor describes herself as a person who receives the love of God in Jesus Christ with continuing awe and delight, who is still growing as a Christian, and who is excited by and committed to parish ministry.
Archdeacon Taylor grew up in Sydney and Melbourne. She is married to Trevor Blake and they have a teenage daughter. She likes to garden, walk, go to the opera and read historical detective novels.
Jo White, is our new student minister. Following her ordination to the deaconate in February Jo will continue as our curate. Jo was a primary school teacher for 20 years and has been in lay ministry for 10 years. Jo is currently completing a Diploma of Ministry at Trinity College Theological School. She has a Bachelor of Theology, Graduate Diploma Music Education and Diploma of Teaching Primary.
Jo grew up in Burwood and attended Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar. Jo’s husband Ken is a keen musician, teaches the piano and loves gardening. Ken is active in his support of Jo’s ministry and sings in the choir. Jo and Ken have a very talented son, Julian who has studied dance at W.A.A.P.A in Perth and is currently hoping to join a course at N.I.C.A. Jo loves the theatre, music and fine arts. She hopes to develop fresh expressions of church and find points of connection with those who as yet do not know Christ.
Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.
